TOKYO, 16 JUNE 1952 DECLARATION Tokyo, 16 June 1952. I, Katsuo Okazaki, Minister for Foreign Affairs, having been duly authorized by the Japanese Government, state that the Government of Japan hereby accepts the obligations contained in the Charter of the United Nations, and undertakes to honour them, by all means at its disposal, from the day when Japan becomes a Member of the United Nations. By resolution 1113 (XI) adopted by the General Assembly at its 623rd meeting, on 18 December 1956, Japan was admitted to membership in the United Nations.
